Chelsea line up four managers to oust embattled Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard’s departure from London club Chelsea’s dugout might be more imminent than initially feared as the club’s top brass have reportedly set their sights on four managers as his potential replacement.

Lampard, a former Chelsea player and apparent legend, has come under tremendous pressure of late following his team’s dreadful form despite the club management backing him with a £200m transfer war chest this last summer.

Despite recruiting the services of stars like Thiago Silva, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner not to mention Christian Pulisic who joined the club in January, 2019; Lampard has failed to impress his employers and mount a credible bid for the Premier League title.

Chelsea’s defeat at Stamford Bridge at the hands of a Coronavirus depleted Man City team on Sunday, 3 January 2021 proved to be even more embarrassing for the struggling Lampard.

Chelsea have now lost against Wolves, Everton, Arsenal and Man City despite being on an impressive run of wins at the start of the campaign.

In fact, the Blues have only been able to salvage four points out of a possible 18 in their last six Premier League matches.

Is it time for Frank Lampard to leave? Some of the fans have already started trending the hashtag #LampardOut and new reports suggest it might not be the just the fans only who want him out.

The Independent claims that Chelsea board has listed Thomas Tuchel, Max Allegri, Brendan Rogers and Ralph Hasenhuttl as possible replacements for Frank Lampard.

Tuchel just lost his job at Paris Saint-Germain due to a disagreement with one of the club’s directors. Meanwhile, Juventus sacked Allegri after the 2018/2019 season and he has yet to commit to any contract since then.

Both coaches have won League titles with Tuchel winning two out of two in the French League and Allegri winning six with AC Milan and Juventus.

As for Rogers and Hasenhuttl, their impressive jobs at Leicester City and Southampton this season has earned them praise. There are also several reports that the board is considering hiring Andriy Shevchenko as well.

Lampard will be looking to turn his poor run around soon before the axe falls. He will not be giving up the job without a fight.

It is not all downhill for Lampard at Chelsea, at least not at this time. While there are calls calling for his replacement, there are fans that still believe that he needs more time. Likely, some members of the club’s board share this sentiment that is why he still has is job.

  5. Oh no. Not sure whether a change of manager will revert Chelsea’s fortune. Th should give Lampard a chance until at least the ends of the season.
