Kitchen hack: Cover the pot when bringing water to a boil

Kitchen hack
Covering a pot when bringing water to a boil can cut down on the time needed to bring the water to a boil.

Covering the pot prevents water vapour from escaping, enabling the temperature to rise more quickly. With the lid on the pot, the evaporated water cannot diffuse or convect into the room.

Try it when cooking pasta or steaming vegetables. (However, forgo this tip when a recipe calls for leaving a pot uncovered, so as to not affect recipe’s cooking times.)
