Senator Okposo, aged 81, was one of three dead persons appointed by the Buhari administration to head top governmental positions. Some reports, however, say that at least six people have been confirmed dead among the 209 board chairmen and 1,258 members of government-owned agencies and parastatals that were announced on Friday, 28th December.
Mrs said the president could not be ”everywhere to know everything,” according to the Vanguard.
She also reportedly said that her late husband was a close friend of the President and stood by him during the APC presidential primary and presidential election.
She says: ”During the President’s inauguration, my husband was there. When he fell sick and eventually died, we did not hear anything, though the president too was fighting for his life. As the head, he (Buhari) sent a condolence message.
“So, this appointment is giving me some thoughts on whether it was not the President that sent the condolence message. If he was the one that sent the message and was aware that his (late Okpozo) name was on the list, he (Buhari) would have corrected it.
I am not picking any offence at all because as a president, he cannot know everything about everybody in the whole country. Maybe he had delegated the thing (selection) to some people to do and they did not consult but just published it (list).
“My husband died on December 26, 2016. So, I cannot cry over split milk. He is gone; the living can forge ahead. But I commend him for remembering my son.”
How can you appoint persons you don’t know about their whereabouts,
this is a matured comment, Mrs Okpozo, thank you.
but still HIS EXCELLENCY should carry out proper research prior to His appointments
because this does not speak well of the selection process. its seeming like there is no proper scrutiny, just some carefree random choice made.
@Everest you actually get my point. He should make proper research before appointing, because already the country is in shambles and Nigerians no longer believe in the president. When he continues to make avoidable mistakes like this, who will vote him in again come 2020??
I bet no one would
Definitely not me
Okay
it was a mistake,
thats fair enough.
i thought the President knew they were dead and still appointed them.
Mrs Okpozo you have spoken well. At least you have clarified something’s, because I was really pissed about the previous news.
In as much as the president is expected to take full responsibilities for anything that goes wrong in his administration, the fact remains he cannot monitor everywhere at the same time. I’m very sure majority of those on the list were recommended to him by chieftains and governors in his party and may not even know 95% of people in that list. Governing Nigeria is so complex that even if I and you were also chanced today to be the president, you will know its not easy to govern. The problem he has is that he is quick to approve without proper verification of people in that list.
All I can say is that president buhari is a good man
@Hassan we are not disputing that fact, we only want that he should next time carry out proper diligence before appointing anybody. How can you appoint dead people to manage the living? Was pissed off when I saw the news @ sidomex posted yesterday about him about 3 dead people. It was looking like they had of planned all along.
Yes I can understand with you bro,but may be he have a reason for doing that.
What kind of reason????
