Arsenal have re-signed Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan after the player established himself as an influential player for Arsenal last season.
Ceballos has also found a new love interest in the football club and he had earlier expressed a willingness to return to north London for the upcoming campaign.
Arsenal head coach, Mikel Arteta, was pleased to have re-signed the Spain international after advance talks with Real Madrid proved successful. Ceballos made 37 appearances for the Gunners last season.
“Dani was an integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent form,” says Arteta.
“I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he’s a highly skilful player. We’re all delighted to welcome him back and we look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”
Arsenal’s technical director Edu adds: “We’re thrilled to have Dani back with us for the new season.
“We all know his qualities after an impressive 2019/2020 campaign, which ended with him playing a key role in our FA Cup success.
“We’re excited to add Dani to the list of quality players we are bringing in.”
Ceballos initially joined Arsenal on loan at the beginning of last season after realising he won’t get enough playing opportunities under Zinedine Zidane. He moved to the Bernabeu from boyhood club Real Betis in 2017.
He becomes Arsenal’s fifth signing of the summer, following the £27m arrival of Gabriel from Lille, permanent deals for Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari, who had been on loan, and Willian on a free transfer from Chelsea.
Arsenal are also expected to announce a new contract for club captain, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
The arrivals of William Saliba, who spent last season on loan at St Etienne after being signed for £27m, and David Luiz, who signed a new one-year deal to remain with the club provide an additional boost to the Gunners squad.
