The Real Madrid goal scorer has been subjected to criticism following his drop of form in front of goal this season, but has come out to say that scoring goals alone is not the only source of happiness he has on the field of play.
Christiano Ronaldo has been instrumental in the Champions League this season for Real Madrid but somehow he has not been so successful in the domestic contest- Spanish La Liga- and as Real Madrid are third and eight points below their rival, Barcelona, the striker has been the target of fans displeasure as well as media criticism. It has even been said that he is not happy and appears always frustrated on the pitch during La Liga outings with the club.
“People don’t know the difference between playing well, playing okay and not scoring goals. I’m looked at as a goal machine, like a guy who has to score all the time. If that isn’t the case, nobody cares if I’ve played well or not, I’m only judged on scoring. I accept the criticism, but I don’t agree with it. That’s why I avoid reading or hearing what is said about me. But I have no choice but to accept it; I can’t control the world.” he had said in an interview with L’Equipe when asked about the criticism he has been facing.
He advised fans to maintain calm composure as it is only the start of the season and they could still turn things around.
Defeats to Girona and most spectacularly to Tottenham when they had been outplayed had been a cause for concern but Ronaldo is optimistic and had only good words for his teammates.
He had responded when asked about the performance of the team in general:
“The team? We’re playing pretty well; not perfect, but good! I’m happy and I feel good. We dropped some points in the league but, in the Champions League, we’re okay.”
You all should stop judging him and wait for the season to go far enough and see if there is a justified cause for worry or not.
