Jennifer Lopez first wore the dress to the 2000 Grammy Awards and caused Google images to be created as a result of the horde of searches that it generated.
At the time, the actress and singer said she didn’t think too much of it, adding that she only selected the dress on the day of the awards show itself.
“I really didn’t think about it. I didn’t think it was all that risque, to be honest,” she said in a Vogue video interview for the anniversary of the dress. “I was more excited that it was the Grammys. I wasn’t even thinking about the dress that much. I was just glad I had something to wear.”
Nineteen years later, she wore a remake of the iconic green jungle dress to close out the runway of the spring Versace show at the Milan fashion week.
Nigerian stylista, Toke Makinwa, wore a variation of the dress to Nollywood’s ‘A Night with the stars’. The theme for the night was “iconic” and we definitely think Toke looked amazing in her iconic green dress.
According to her post on Instagram, designer, Tolu Bally recreated the dress.
Toke accessorized lightly with green earrings and silver sandals that allowed the dress to stand out on its own. Check out pictures below:
