John Boyega and Lupita Nyong’o to narrate BBC and  Discovery’s natural history series, Serengeti

Discovery and BBC Studios have a new natural history series coming, and they’re getting two powerhouse actors of African descent to lend their voices.

Star Wars’ John Boyega and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o have been tipped as the voice of BBC and Discovery’s natural history series, Serengeti, Deadline reports. While Boyega would be narrating the British version of the series, Lupita will be the voice for the American version.

The six-part series will, in intimate detail, document some of African wildlife’s most iconic animals, and it will also bring to life the challenges and experiences facing some of the Serengeti’s most well-known species such as warthogs, lions, mongoose, cheetahs among others. The series would follow these animals over one year, according to Deadline. They will be filmed in their natural home using groundbreaking filming techniques and pioneering technology, including drone technology and the use of multiple stabilised camera systems.

Talking about the series, Lupita who recently released a children’s book, Sulwe, says: “Simon and John [proucers of the seires] have created a stunning and unique testament to a place that I have always loved.

“These beautiful creatures’ stories are universal, and I am honoured to help take the audience on their journey.”

BBC will be responsible for the international distribution of the series.
