The Federal Ministry of Works, which is in charge of maintaining and preserving public property in Nigeria has announced that from 24 July, the bridge will be closed to road users.
Both sides of the bridge will be closed one after the other for three months each while work is being done on it.
The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olukayode Popoola disclosed this to newsmen on Monday, 6 July. He also said that consultations are already ongoing for another phase of work to begin on the bridge.
For those who have to take the bridge to and from work, Popoola added that the Ministry is already speaking with the relevant agencies to ensure that life is not disrupted during this period.
In August 2018, the bridge was also shut down for a three-day maintenance investigative check.
