Vaginal infections vary and sometimes home treatments and self-medication can worsen the condition. If you worry about your v---a or vaginal health or notice unusual in discharge, do not to worry too much, here are six ways you can care for your v----a or improve your health.
1. Wash with warm water
Warm water always does a lot of good to the v----a. It helps to easily remove excess dirt. After washing with clean warm water, dry thoroughly with a clean towel. In cases where the v----a is too irritated, you can use a blow dryer and set it on cool. Do not scrub while washing and also, avoid nails (the v----a is a very sensitive part of the woman’s body).
2. Wear only 100% cotton
It is advisable to wear pants that are made of pure cotton so that the v----a can breathe. If you have very sensitive or delicate skin, it is important that you avoid wearing nylon, acetate or other manmade fiber underwear. Also, avoid wearing thongs.
3. Avoid feminine hygiene products
Not all products that are made for hygiene are actually healthy. These include feminine spray and deodorants, scented oils, bubble baths, bath oils, talc or powder. All of these can irritate the v----a. Use tampons instead of sanitary pads or napkins to control mensural bleeding. Do not use deodorant pads and avoid using coloured or scented tissue papers, use white only.
4. Use mild soaps
Use very mild soaps to wash the underwear. Avoid the use of fabric softeners and detergents with enzymes.
5. Avoid pantyhose
Avoid wearing nylon pantyhose or panty girdles. This is because they trap heat and moisture, providing an ideal breeding environment for organisms. When nylons or leggings are required, wear cotton or nylons with a cotton panty.
6. Rinsing and washing
Rinse your underwear carefully after washing or double-rinse if possible. When washing, avoid using too much laundry detergent and ensure to wash new underwears before wearing them.
