Barcelona pulled backed from two goals down from a first-leg loss to Sevilla to seal a final slot with a 3-0 victory after extra-time in their Copa del Rey semi-final second leg which earned them a 3-2 win on aggregate.
Danish forward Martin Braithwaite scored the decisive goal with a scrappy diving header early in the extra period after Ousmane Dembele and Gerard Pique had given Barca a 2-0 lead.
Sevilla, who won the first leg at home 2-0, deployed an uncharacteristic negative tactic and when presented with an all-important opportunity to bury the game via the penalty spot, they wasted it and couldn’t make the scoreline 1-1 in the second half to effectively kill the tie.
The visitors’ miseries were compounded when Luuk de Jong was sent off from the bench late on after allegedly using abusive language against the fourth official.
