Fisher had first made a cameo appearance in the 2016 DC Extended Universe film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before getting lead roles in both Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021).

In July 2020, he accused Joss Whedon — the 2017 Justice League screenplay writer — of treating cast and crew members in a “gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable” way. Months later, his criticism also included producers Jon Berg and Geoff Johns, DC Films chief Walter Hamada, and Warner Bros.’ parent company WarnerMedia as well. He said he would not work with Hamada again.

In March 2021, Fisher gave further details of why he was critical of Whedon. “There were a lot of really precarious things that they wanted to try that I found would have been slightly offensive to people that were [differently-abled],” he said. “Some of those things, I was able to get out of the script. But it was an uphill battle for a lot of us during that time, and that’s no secret at this point.”

He also mentioned that Whedon belittled and mocked the previous work of both actors and people as well. The actor criticized the scene where Flash falls on Wonder Woman’s chest, saying; “Flash falling on Wonder Woman’s [chest] is something that he yanked out of Age of Ultron and just copy-pasted here.”

Notably, the scene does not appear on Zack’s cut that was just released on 18 March 2021. However, Fisher was removed from an upcoming DC film, The Flash, but he was able to do reshoots as Cyborg on Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
