We all have that moment where we have so much thoughts clouding our heads, so much happening around us, confusion tries to set in because we can’t seem to decide on what to do exactly, and so much stress has accumulated already.
One very simple and very easy way to ease off our stress is just to laugh. Yes! I mean laugh like laughter. Hahahahahaha! Like we all know, “laughter is like medicine to our soul.” There is a soothing effect that comes from laughing. Many times, we are faced with life battles, challenges, situations, issues, predicaments, so much worry and a lot to deal with. This may not necessarily be physical stress, it can be mental stress, financial, emotional, etc. And I must tell you, mental stress is bad because it drains your whole system, including your physical body.

However, laughter can help diffuse a stressful situation. You feel a lot of relief from stress after a laughter to a joke. In an article published by Alateia, a recent study shows that laughter increases your heart rate and blood pressure, releasing endorphins in your brain. Laughter can also improve your circulation and help muscle relaxation, both of which can reduce the physical symptoms of stress. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes later.

So, now you see that a little laughter can actually do a lot to your body and mood. Find out what makes you laugh or how to make yourself laugh. Watch funny movies, listen to comedians, crack jokes, laugh at jokes from other people, tag along with happy folks, get to find out what’s making them laugh, etc. You can start by learning how to smile because laughter and smiling go hand in hand. In my case, I laugh a lot. I find every means possible to share moments of laughter either with my friends, over a chit chat period, or upon seeing a funny video or listening to something that just cracked me up. Stress is nobody’s friend, so let laughter be one of your ways of easing it off.
