James Bond actor, Sean Connery dies aged 90

Sean Connery, the Scottish actor that rocketed to fame as the popular fictional character, James Bond, has died aged 90.

He is known as the first actor to play the iconic role. Connery also starred in seven of those movies.

According to BBC News, Sean Connery died in his sleep while in the Bahamas. He had been unwell for a while.

He had a long and colourful career, winning many awards including an Oscar, two Bafta awards and three Golden Globes.

Connery’s other films included The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.

In 2000, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth at the Holyrood Palace.

Connery is survived by his second wife, painter Micheline Roquebrune, whom he married in 1975; his son, actor Jason Connery; and a grandson from Jason’s marriage to actress Mia Sara.

Several fans have taken to social media to mourn the actor’s death, with many citing his Bond roles.
