Nigerian man, Izu dies by suicide over false rape allegation [photos]

Twitter has been thrown into an uproar by the recent death of a young Nigerian man, Izu Madubueze, who died by suicide.

What makes this situation more interesting is the fact that the young man was accused of rape by a Twitter influencer and added to a curated list of rapists that women should stay away from.

The Twitter influencer, Nanichi Anese curated the list of alleged sex offenders and added Izu’s name to the list. The young man tried to clear his name but was denied the opportunity many times.

Screenshots from conversations between Nanichi and Izu show that Nani later told him it was “non-physical sexual assault”, telling him to do better while maintaining that the alleged victim wished to remain anonymous.

A few hours later, it was reported that Izu had died by suicide. When the news was made public, Nanichi set her page to private but eventually deactivated her account.

Twitter users are now calling for justice for Izu, with the hashtag, #JusticeforIzu trending. People are insisting that Nanichi be punished for falsely accusing Izu of rape especially as some people are claiming that Nanichi asked Izu out once and was rejected.
