The ongoing Governor Wike Pre-Season Football Championships continues in Port Harcourt today as MFM FC of Lagos lock horns with fellow NPFL team Abia Warriors, in a game that promises to be entertaining from start to finish.

MFM FC and Bayelsa United are currently tied on 7 points each at the top of the standings. However, it is the MFM that occupy the top spot with a better goal difference and a game at hand.

Abia Warriors are in need of an outright win to remain in the competition and to catch Bayelsa on the group table, or risk getting knocked out early.

Bayelsa United walked-over non-league Ndala FC who did not turn up at the stadium for the fixture on Wednesday morning.

In other games on Wednesday, another Lagos based side, Ottasolo FC, won their first three points in the competition after defeating Cynosure FC 1-0 in the other morning fixture.

In other games today, Cynosure FC will tackle hosts Rivers United, while Akwa United and Ottasolo engage each other to complete Thursday’s fixtures.

Olympique Marseille chief scout, Omar Sciolla, along with Landmark Sports Promotions’ Chinedu Amadi were among a number of scouts who observed yesterday’s games at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

Also present were ex-internationals Tijani Babangida and Coach Kadiri Ikhana, as well as Rivers State commissioner for sports, Boma IIyaye.

The efforts of the organisers have been acknowledged by the Rivers State ministry of sports permanent secretary, Honour Sirawoo, as excellent preparation for teams, especially host team Rivers United, who are set to represent the NPFL on the continent this season.
